Thank you for your email of 27 April 2023 to the Department of Corrections – Ara Poutama
Aotearoa, requesting an extract of the annual amount spent with al suppliers for the
2021/2022 financial year. Your request has been considered under the Official Information
Act 1982 (OIA).
You requested:
I would like an extract of the annual amount spent with all suppliers for the
2021/2022 financial year.
I would like this data in an open format, csv or json formats would be suitable.
I would like the following details provided:
- Supplier Name
- Suppliers NZBN number (if available)
- Total Amount Spent
Please find the requested information attached in Appendix One.
Corrections has balanced your interest in this information against the commercial interests
of the parties involved. We have determined that some information should be withheld
under section 9(2)(b)(i ) of the OIA, to protect information that would be likely to prejudice
the commercial position of the person who supplied or who is the subject of the
information.
In accordance with section 9(1) of the OIA, we have also considered whether there are
countervailing public interest considerations favouring the release of the remainder of the
requested information. We do not believe such considerations are present in this case.
Corrections has balanced your interest in this information against the privacy interests of
individuals whose personal information is involved. We have determined that the names of

natural persons, including deceased natural persons.
In accordance with section 9(1) of the OIA, we have also considered whether there are
countervailing public interest considerations favouring the release of the remainder of the
requested information. We do not believe such considerations are present in this case and
we are releasing the names of entities.
