[FYI request #23310 email]
Dear Mark
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request dated 23 June 2023, in
which you requested:
I would like to know the actions/results of form submissions for the community
roadwatch form on the website. I understand almost al of these result in a letter
being sent. Can you let me know many times this has happened?
Could you please also let me know the most commonly complained about
(accusation) offence
Police cannot provide the number of complaints which has resulted in a letter being sent
to the registered owner without manual y reviewing each complaint received. Accordingly,
your request for how many submissions have resulted in a letter being sent is refused
under section 18(f) of the OIA, as the information cannot be made available without
substantial collation or research.
Police can only provide a breakdown of the most used categories for a rolling 12-month
period. Accordingly, Table One attached provides this breakdown based on the number
of Community Roadwatch submissions made online between 11 July 2023 and 10 July
2023. Please note the category is selected by the submitter, not determined by Police.
In total, Police received 60,914 submissions the through the Community Roadwatch
online form in this period. Note this does not include notices submitted in hard copy.
This reply contains provisional data which is drawn from a dynamic operational database
on 10 July 2023. This is subject to change as new information is recorded or recoded.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this
decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.
Yours sincerely
