Tēnā koe Shane Gibson,
Second follow up email regarding your Official Information Act (the Act) request for 21/22
financial year supplier data.
Thank you for your email on 5 September 2023 regarding why the Department of the Prime
Minister and Cabinet (DPMC) had refused your OIA request under section 18(f) of the Act. You
provided us with an FYI.org.nz link to a DPMC OIA where we had provided a requestor with
financial information relating to DPMC’s use of contractors. You then said that this “seems to
negate your comment that you cannot or do not produce this information”.
Our response to you on 10 August 2023 confirmed that DPMC is not required to report on
supplier data to this level you requested, and that this information is not required for DPMC to
make payments. Public sector agencies use different IT systems based on their business needs.
As this information is not required for our business needs, DPMC does not have a system that
is able to separate the data that you requested.
DPMC has no further comments on this matter. We reiterate that you have the right to ask the
Ombudsman to investigate and review our decision under section 28(3) of the Act.
Yours sincerely
