I refer to your request for official information of 5 July 2023 in which you have requested the
following information:
1.1.
I request information for each of the following courses in their respective years:
Mean and standard deviation
The number of people who achieved each letter grade (from A+ to F) where the breakdown would
not compromise individual privacy.
The total number of people who took each course.
1.2.
Assume all papers are the Hamilton-based variants (if data is not available across all location
variants of each paper).

Please find attached PDF Appendix. The University provides the following explanations with
respect to the information:
3.1.
The data per paper includes all location variants (Hamilton, Tauranga, Net/Online) to
prevent the potential identification of an individual’s personal information.
3.2.
There is no occurrence for ENGEN570-22A. Instead, we have provided ENGEN570-22D
in its place.
3.3.
The University Grading Scale is “A+” to “E” and can be viewed at:

3.4.
“IC” stands for “Incomplete”. “RP” stands for “Restricted Pass”. “WD” stands for
“Withdrawn”. Information on these terms can be viewed at:

Finally, please note that the distribution of marks is heavily positively skewed so the
standard deviation should be used with caution.
