I refer to your request for information dated 12 July 2023, which was received by Greater Wel ington 
Regional Council (Greater Wel ington) on 12 July 2023. You have requested the fol owing: 
“1) Total patronage counts (both inbound and outbound) for al  main stops along the Wel ington to 
Palmerston North express (diesel) service line by month” 
Greater  Wel ington  is  transferring  this  part  of  your  request  pursuant  to  section  12  of  the  Local 
Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 on the basis that this information is not 
held  by Greater  Wel ington  but  is  more likely  to  be held by  KiwiRail.  This  is  because  the  Capital 
Connection service between Wel ington and Palmerston North is operated by KiwiRail. 
Further  correspondence  wil  therefore  come to you directly from  KiwiRail.   In  this  regard the 20 
working day time limit for providing you with a substantive response to this request wil  begin from 
the day after KiwiRail receives this transfer.   
If you have any concerns with the decision(s) referred to in this letter, you have the right to request 
an investigation and review by the Ombudsman under section 27(3) of the Local Government Official 
Information and Meetings Act 1987.
