Thank you for your email of 6 August 2023 to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment 
requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982, the fol owing information: 
 
[…] Please provide me with the number of Trusts registered as shareholders, perhaps indicating 
those trusts that are registered under the 1957 Charitable Trusts Act. 
Please also provide me with an excel spreadsheet listing the shareholding Trusts and the company 
name and number of the company that they are a shareholder of. 
 
The Companies Office does not keep a list of company shareholders that are a “Trust”. 
 
To assist you with your request, however, please refer to the attached file which contains the following 
information: 
•  The worksheet named “Shareholders on CT register” lists a total of 154 entities derived from 
matching all active shareholders (excluding companies) of registered companies against the 
Charitable Trusts register on 17 August 2023. Companies registered as shareholders were 
excluded from the search. 
•  The worksheet named “Shareholders with TRUST in name” includes al  individuals and entities 
(other than a company) registered as shareholders identified from a search of the companies 
register on 1 August 2023 using the search word “Trust”. Companies registered as shareholders 
were excluded from the search. Please note that search results may show names containing the 
text “Trust” in any form.
