CHRISTCHURCH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT LIMITED (CIAL)

We write further to our email of 08 August 2023, acknowledging receipt of your OIA 
request (the Request) of 08 August 2023 seeking information (if held by CIAL) in 
relation to Sustainable Tarras. 
Request: Received 08 August 2023 – Sustainable Tarras  
“Could  I  have  a  copy  please  of  all  correspondence,  documents  and  minutes  which 
contain either a) “Sustainable Tarras” b) “Stop Central Otago Airport (or SCOA”) c) 
any other groups perceived to be “in opposition” to the new airport.” 
From the outset, we consider your Request too broad in scope and therefore, we will 
be unable to provide you with this level of information. You have provided no dates 
for  such  information  and  further,  this  Request  could  cover  a  large  raft  of 
correspondence which would need to be extracted from numerous sources and places. 
To do so, would involve the diversion of personnel for a substantial period of time to 
go  through  and  collate  the  information  you  are  requesting,  with  no  defined  period 
included.  
Therefore, your Request is refused under Section 18(f) of the OIA.

In addition to the above, please note, that CIAL is under no legal obligation to consult 
in  relation  to  the  Central  Otago  Airport  Project  (the  Project)  or  otherwise  publicly 
engage at present. To assist public understanding of the context of the Project and 
CIAL’s decisions, CIAL has committed  to respectfully engaging with the community 
(including  anyone  who  is  opposed)  and  proactively  publishing  information  as  it 
completes work.
