CHRISTCHURCH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT LIMITED (CIAL)

We write further to our email of 14 August 2023, acknowledging receipt of your OIA 
request (the Request) of 14 August 2023 to CIAL seeking the following information: 
Request  -  Received  14  August  2023  –  Meetings  with  Ministry  for  the 
Environment 
“I am requesting a copy of briefings and correspondence with the Ministry for the 
Environment regarding the airport in Tarras. Also meeting dates, notes, minutes, 
agendas.”

To  date,  CIAL  has  not  held  any  meetings  with  the  Ministry  for  the  Environment 
regarding  the  Central  Otago  Airport  Project  (the  Project).  Therefore,  we  have  no 
information on record to provide to you.

As a significant infrastructure business, CIAL is regularly involved in select committee 
meetings,  public  consultation  processes,  industry  bodies,  working  groups,  trade 
delegations, public events, and many other engagements where it meets or interacts 
with  members  of  central  and  local  government  and  their  officials.  It  would  require 
substantial collation or research to determine which of those interactions may have 
included reference or discussion of the Project.

The  Project  is  currently  in  the  validation  and  planning  phase  and  no  regulatory 
approvals  have  been  sought  or  will  be  during  this  phase.  Accordingly,  no  briefings 
have  been  held  with  the  Ministry  for  the  Environment  where  the  Project  was  the 
exclusive focus.
