Dear Mitchell, 
 
I refer to your request, made under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), asking: 
 
In the Ministry of Transport's "Passenger rail networks in the regions" briefing from ~2016, 
included in the appendix is a map of the traffic density of KiwiRail's network, showing the net 
tonnes carried on each line in the 2015 Fiscal Year. I would like to know if KiwiRail has and 
can provide an updated version of this, say for the 2021 or 2022 Fiscal Year. I would prefer it 
in map form, but a table/spreadsheet would also be fine. 
 
We have considered your request and have attached a PDF showing KiwiRail's net 
freight tonnage density for FY23 (i.e. for the year ending 30-Jun-2023).
