I refer to your official information request of 28 August 2023 to the Ministry for Women (the
Ministry) of:
Under the OIA please provide the following as of the 28th August 2023.
1.The number of full time employees.
2.The number of full time employees earning $100,000 or more per year.
3.The number of full time employees by gender from 2017 October to 28th August 2023.
4.Costs, if any spent on travel and accommodation by year from 2017 October to 28th August
2023.
5.Costs if any spent on contractors by year from 2017 October to 28th August 2023.
Part of the information you have requested is enclosed. However, we have decided to partially
refuse your request for information which relates to

contractors by year from 20127 October to 28 August 2023] under section 18(d) of the Of icial
Information Act. This information is or is soon to be made publicly available.
In relation to questions 1-3, on 29 August, the Ministry requested from you, clarification of full
time employees. As we have not had a response, we have interpreted this request as meaning
full time equivalent employees both fixed term and/or permanent.

I wil respond to each of your questions in turn:
In relation to questions 1 and 2:
1.The number of full time employees.
As of 28 August 2023, the number of full-time employees is 37, this includes fixed term and
permanent employees.
2.The number of full time employees earning $100,000 or more per year.
As of 28 August 2023, the number of full-time employees earning $100,000 or more per year is
27, this includes fixed term and permanent employees.
In relation to questions 3, 4 and 5:
3.The number of full time employees by gender from 2017 October to 28th August 2023.
4.Costs, if any spent on travel and accommodation by year from 2017 October to 28th August
2023.
5.Costs if any spent on contractors by year from 2017 October to 28th August 2023.
The Manatū Wāhine – Ministry for Women Annual Review contains an accurate and complete
summary of the Ministry’s total expenditure on staff, consultants, and contractors.
We follow the following guidance set by the Te Kawa Mataaho Public Service Commission,
where departments are able to consolidate contracts below $10,000. This is reflected in our
Annual Review.

Furthermore, where the supplier is a private individual, the names are withheld under section
9(2)(a) of the Act, in order to protect the privacy of natural persons.
As such, your request is refused in part under section 18(d) of the Act, as the information is soon
to be or already publicly available. Please refer to our most recent Annual Review for a summary
on total amount spent on consultants and contractors, for the past five financial years, from
2017/18 to 2021/22 as wel as a breakdown of staff by gender:

Costs, if any spent-on contractors, travel, and accommodation for the current financial year 1
July 2023 to 28 August 2023:
• The Ministry has spent $65,954.00on consultants and contractors, detail on contractors
and consultants is regularly published as part of our annual review process on the
parliamentary website.
• $761.00 on domestic travel.
• The Ministry spent $22,180.00 on overseas travel and accommodation undertaken and
invoiced between 1 July to 28 August 2023. This amount relates to two staff attending
the APEC 2023 Women and Economy Forum in August 2023 and participating in high
level meetings and discussions on behalf of the Minister for Women. This event was
held in Seattle in the United States
The number of full time employees by gender as of 28th August 2023 is outlined in the table
below and includes full time and part time employees.
