Your request has been considered in accordance with the Official Information Act 1982 (the

Te Puni Kōkiri may give koha, as appropriate, to preserve Crown recognition of tikanga Māori.
At Te Puni Kōkiri, koha is generally given at Marae, Tangihanga, and Pōwhiri. Te Puni Kōkiri’s
Koha Policy provides guidelines and principles for all kaimahi when providing koha on behalf
of Te Puni Kōkiri.
Te Puni Kōkiri has spent the following in the last three financial years on koha:

The number of koha in the 2020/21 year was impacted by COVID-19 restrictions, in particular
border restrictions which meant international visitors were limited.
The remainder of your request, where you have asked for a breakdown by month and details
such as date, description cash/type etc or the person or organisation that received it, would
require substantial collation. Accordingly, the remainder of your request is refused under
section 18(f) of the Act as the information cannot be made available without substantial
collation or research.
I trust my response satisfies your request.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this response.
