I refer to your email of 08 September 2023 requesting the following under the Official Information Act 
1982 (the Act): 
 
“Please provide the following documents: 
• The procurement strategy(s) and or procurement plan(s) that were utilized in the procurement 
for the Covid-19 Vaccines (individually or collectively). 
• The document endorsing / authorizing deviations from the government procurement guidelines 
for the purchase of Covid-19 Vaccines (individually or collectively). 
• The procurement recommendations made to govt subsequent to negotiations with the Covid-19 
vaccine manufacturers prior to purchase (individually or collectively).” 
 
I am writing to notify you that I am extending the timeframe for responding to your request under the 
following sections of the Act: 
 
15A(1)(b) 
consultations necessary to make a decision on the request are such that a proper 
response cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit. 
 
We will now respond to your request on or before 03 November 2023, which is an extension of 20 
working days. 
 
You have the right to seek investigation and review of my decision by the Ombudsman, in accordance 
with section 28(3) of the Act. The relevant details can be found at: www.ombudsman.parliament.nz.
