Thank you for your email of 11 September 2023 to Oranga Tamariki–Ministry for Children (Oranga 
Tamariki), requesting funding allocated for the development of Te Reo. Your request has been 
considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act). 
You have requested: 
Please provide me with the total amount of funding allocated for the development of Te 
Reo in your ministry and affiliated organizations since the beginning of the new 
government in 2020, along with a breakdown of how this allocated funding has been 
utilized or distributed.  
It appears likely that your original  request will need  to be clarified or amended to enable us to 
respond. We are unable to interpret exactly what you are referring to in regard to “the development 
of Te Reo”. 
Are you able to please clarify that you are referring to language courses that Oranga Tamariki 
have funded for staff to learn or improve their Te Reo Māori knowledge? If you are able to provide 
us with some more details regarding the request you are referring to, then we will hopefully be 
able to assist you and provide the information you are seeking. 
Please note, any clarification or amendment of a request is considered to be a new request for 
the purpose of calculating the maximum statutory timeframe for response – see section 15(1AA) 
of the Act.
