Information Request – 91 Chester Street East, Christchurch
Thank you for your information request dated 12 September 2023 asking for the following
information
.
Please can you provide any details on future plans (be that short term or long term) for the Area
Office buildings at 91 Chester Street East, Christchurch, which have been housed in portacoms
since the Christchurch Earthquake.
Specifically please ensure it contains the fol owing:
1. Do FENZ plan on building a permanent office building at this location to house the staff that
currently use the portacoms? if not, what other plans do you have to house these staff long
term?
2. If FENZ do have plans to build a permanent building here, please provide any drawings or any
available details of what the building size maybe.
3. If FENZ do have plans to build a permanent building here, please provide any details on the
timeline of start date of the project and estimated completion.
In accordance with the provisions of the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA), we answer each of
the aspects of your request below.
1. Do FENZ plan on building a permanent office building at this location to house the staff that
currently use the portacoms? if not, what other plans do you have to house these staff long
term?
Fire and Emergency New Zealand intends to have office and storage facilities at the site, in the
future. At this stage the portacom buildings will remain occupied.
2. If FENZ do have plans to build a permanent building here, please provide any drawings or any
available details of what the building size maybe.
Fire and Emergency have yet to determine exactly what wil be built, however below is a concept
drawing of what may be established at the site.
3. If FENZ do have plans to build a permanent building here, please provide any details on the
timeline of start date of the project and estimated completion.
At this stage there is no confirmed timeline for the development of the site at 91 Chester Street
East.
