Thank you for your email of 25 September 2023 to the Ministry of Education (the Ministry)
requesting the following information:
1. I request the full amount of NZD paid to the charity INSIDEOUT
(https://insideout.org.nz) for training and services provided to the Ministry of Education
over the from 1-01-2018 to current.
2. I also request information regarding what services were provided, and a breakdown of
costs.
Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act).
InsideOUT is the Ministry's main community Rainbow stakeholder. Staff at InsideOUT are subject
matter experts on Rainbow-specific matters, and work directly with young people, teachers,
whānau and communities, independently of the Ministry, on how to best support the Rainbow
community. The Ministry has funded InsideOUT to develop several resources to help schools
create inclusive environments and improve outcomes for Rainbow learners. These resources are
supplementary to the curriculum and are not mandatory for schools to use.
The Ministry has also paid InsideOUT for nine professional learning and development sessions
delivered to Ministry staff on a contractual basis, to enhance Rainbow capability within our
organisation.
In response to
part one of your request, the Ministry paid a total of $160,147.94 (GST-inclusive) to
InsideOUT since January 2018.
In response to
part two of your request, I am providing a breakdown and description of the
invoices paid to InsideOUT since January 2018, as
Appendix A. I am withholding some
information under section 9(2)(a) of the Act, to protect the privacy of natural persons.
As required under section 9(1) of the Act, I have considered the public interest in releasing the
information withheld. I do not consider the public interest considerations favouring the release of
this information are sufficient to outweigh the need to withhold it at this time.
