Official Information Act request: Salaries of members of the Waitangi Tribunal  
 
I refer to your email of 3 October 2023, to Hon Andrew Little requesting, under the Official 
Information Act 1982 (the Act), information relating to the amount paid in the past financial 
year to members of the Waitangi Tribunal. Your request was transferred to the Ministry of 
Justice (the Ministry) for response. Specifically, you requested: 
 
‘Salaries of members of the Waitangi Tribunal’ 
Could you please tell me the total amount paid in the last financial year to members of 
the Waitangi Tribunal. 
I am responding to your request as it falls within my responsibilities as Group Manager, 
Courts and Tribunals, Regional Service Delivery and is being managed in accordance with 
the provisions of the Act. 
 
In response to your request, $1,157,327.71 was paid to Waitangi Tribunal members in the 
2022/23 financial year.
