Response to your request for official information 
 
Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) to Manatū Hauora 
(the Ministry of Health) on 13 October 2023 for information regarding clause 9 vaccine 
exemptions. This is a follow up request from your previous request, H2023031525 refers. You 
requested:  
 
“1. How many such clause 9 CEO operational exemptions were received? 
2. Please share the break down by DHB or other tax funded health organization, eg 
medsafe etc 
3. How many were approved, total number of workers affected? 
4. A breakdown by the organization for the above approvals in 3. above. 
 
Two applications were received under section clause 9A of the COVID-19 Public Health 
Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021 on behalf of a total of 29 pilots employed by Air New 
Zealand Limited.  
 
However, the requirement for this group of workers to be vaccinated was removed when the 
application was processed. Therefore, the exemption was no longer needed.
