I refer to your information request dated 21 October 2023 made under the Official Information Act 
1982 (the Act). You requested the following information: 
 
1.  “The number of HSFY General category students who applied to the BDS programme which 
will commence in 2024. 
 
2.  The number of those HSFY General category applicants who met the UCAT thresholds and 
be invited to interview for the BDS programme for entry into 2024.” 
 
 
 Subject to the below comment, see below the information you have requested:  
 
•  The data is correct as at 20 November 2023. 
 
1.  The number of HSFY general category applicants to the 2024 Bachelor of Dentistry 
Programme. 
 
There were 220 applicants to the 2024 Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programme via the Health 
Sciences First Year (HSFY) General category. 
 
2.  The number of HSFY general category applicants to the 2024 Bachelor of Dentistry 
Programme who were above the UCAT threshold and were invited to interview. 
 
There were 87 applicants who were above the UCAT interview thresholds for entry to the 2024 BDS 
programme via the HSFY General category.
