Dear Mr Khan
Your Official Information Act request
We refer to your email dated 29 October 2023 (your Request) requesting
information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act). TVNZ’s response is set
out below.
Your Request:
In September 2023, Rawiri Waititi correctly criticized a political party that
systematically harbours paedophiles for their support for these dangerous people
[link] Waititi's truthful al egations were made under parliamentary privilege. Instead
of reporting honestly and openly his factual truths about this Zionist proxy force,
RNZ pretended that he had somehow scandalized New Zealanders and that his
truthful claims should not be reported, in violation of all Media Council principles. I am
requesting al communications within TVNZ, and with the party in question, in
regards your disgusting failure to report of this very openly acknowledged
paedophile scandal in New Zealand's most dodgy political party.
We have interpreted this request to mean you would like TVNZ to provide:
1. All communications within TVNZ regarding TVNZ’s reporting of charges
against the person in question; and
2. Al communications within TVNZ regarding TVNZ’s reporting of the
comments made by Rawiri Waititi under parliamentary privilege; and
3. All communications between TVNZ and the relevant political party in
relation to either of (1) or (2).
Please let us know if this interpretation does not sufficiently capture your
request.
Request 1: Al communications within TVNZ regarding TVNZ’s reporting of the
charges referred to in your Request
We are not able to confirm the existence or nonexistence of communications within
TVNZ regarding the reporting of these charges, because doing so would be likely to
prejudice the maintenance of the law, including the right to a fair trial. This notice is
given in reliance on
section 10 and section
6(c) of the Official Information Act.
Request 2: Al communications within TVNZ regarding TVNZ’s reporting of the
comments made by Rawiri Waititi under parliamentary privilege
This information has been withheld on the basis of s9(2)(h) of the Act; It is necessary
to withhold the information to maintain legal professional privilege.
Request 3: All communications between TVNZ regarding TVNZ’s reporting of the
charges referred to in your Request
Section 18(e) of the Act applies to this request; no information has been identified
that is responsive to this request.
We trust this now answers your concerns. In accordance with Section 19(b) of the
Act we advise that you have the right to seek an investigation and review of the
above decision by making a complaint under Section 28(3) to an Ombudsman.
Yours sincerely
OIA Response Team
