Thank you for your email of 1 November 2023, to the Ministry of Justice (the Ministry), in 
which you requested under the Of icial Information Act (the Act) information relating to the 
Ministry’s real estate. Specifically, you requested:  
 
Who is Aitken Street Real Estate Netherlands B.V and what is their relationship to 
you? 
Why do you pay them so much each year?  July 2023- $11.5mil? 
 
Your request has been referred to me for response, as it falls within my responsibilities as 
Deputy Secretary, Corporate and Digital Services and is being managed in accordance with 
the provisions of the Act. 
 
Aitken Street Real Estate Netherlands B.V is the Ministry’s landlord for our Aitken Street 
National Of ices. The annual figure paid to them is to cover commercial rent and various 
leased building operating expenses.
