Tēnā koe Ohakune Ratepayers & Residents' Society Inc
Thank you for your request to Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities, dated 3 November 2023, under
the Of icial Information Act 1982 (the Act):
“A member of our Society has asked both Kainga Ora and Ruapehu District Council the
following questions; both agencies have avoided answering the questions.
46 residential lots are currently applied for in the Resource Consent for Teitei Drive (a joint
application between RDC & KO), of which 44 have been advertised to the public as a 15/15/14
split between social, affordable and workers accommodation.
1./ Please advise what the remaining 2 residential lots are being used for or wil be used for
(for the avoidance of doubt, what wil be done with any number of residential lots above the 44)
2./ Who wil own the remaining 2 titles, or who wil they be transferred to (for the avoidance of
doubt, who wil own the additional residential titles over the 44 residential lots or who wil they
be transferred to)”
Kāinga Ora considers this request has been answered. As we explained in our 24 October 2023
response letter (ref: OI 23 553) to the founding member of your Society:
“Regarding your questions about the number of lots, I can advise that the intention is to build
on 44 lots. The agreement between Kāinga Ora, the Ruapehu District Council and CIP funding
is for the development of 44 homes only, in line with the sale and development agreement. No
lots have been allocated to Ngāti Rangi.
However, I can confirm that the Resource Consent application is for 46 lots due to the logical
sectioning of the masterplan. Please note that the number of lots remains subject to further
change as we go through the review process and that the final number of lots wil be confirmed
in the approved resource consent application.”
As it relates to the first paragraph above, please also note any additional lots wil remain the property
of Ruapehu District Council, unless otherwise agreed. There is no further information to provide at this
time.
Under section 28(3) of the Act, you have the right to seek an investigation and review by the
Ombudsman of this response. Contact details for the Ombudsman can be found at
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz.
Please note that Kāinga Ora proactively releases our responses to official information requests where
possible. Our response to your request may be published at
kaingaora.govt.nz/publications/official-
information-requests/ with your personal information removed.
