Your Official Information Act request 
We refer to your email dated 3 November 2023  (your Request) requesting 
information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act). TVNZ’s response is set 
out below. 
Your Request:  
Would you please share why the ful  Election Night coverage from 14th October 2023 
is not available on your website https://www.tvnz.co.nz/, 1news.co.nz, nor your 
youtube account/s. 
TVNZ’s Response 
TVNZ’s Election Night coverage was available for two weeks from 14 October 2023. 
After this period, the content was archived.  
This streaming window is in line with TVNZ’s other news coverage available on TVNZ+. 
News bulletins are available for one week after the broadcast date, and current affairs 
programming is available for between two and four weeks after the broadcast date.  
Given information contained in this type programming can become out of date, TVNZ 
has determined that a short streaming window is appropriate.  
Note that 1News Debates broadcast prior to the 2023 General Election are available 
for one year because of NZ  on Air funding requirements relating to the NZ Sign 
Language interpretation of these debates. 
We trust this now answers your concerns. In accordance with Section 19(b) of the Act 
we advise that you have the right to seek an investigation and review of the above 
decision by making a complaint under Section 28(3) to an Ombudsman.
