OFFICIAL INFORMATION REQUEST FOR OHAKUNE SPATIAL PLAN
I refer to your official information request dated 14 November 2023 for Ohakune Spatial Plan dated
24 May 2022.
1) Are any changes proposed to increase this to a medium or high-density zone.
Any updates to zone planning would be via the district plan.
We have decided to refuse your request under section 17(d) of the Local Government Official
Information and Meetings Act

2) Please provide any emails or documents mentioning the Ohakune Spatial Plan since 20th June
2023; these can be from staff, councillors or working groups such as "Future Ohakune" or any other
group working or associated with the Ohakune Spatial Plan.

We have decided to refuse your request under section 17(d) of the Local Government Official

Town Revitalisation Ohakune Charitable Trust Proposal for Furniture Renewals and Street Lamp
Maintenance and the proposed Teitei Drive Housing Development. This information is publicly

We have decided to refuse the release of information regarding 20230929 Tender Report – Ohakune
Town Revitalisation, under Section 7(2)(i) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings
Act enable any local authority holding the information to carry on, without prejudice or disadvantage,
negotiations (including commercial and industrial negotiations).

3) I noted point 1 page 4 (IMPLEMENT ZONING MAP) does not mention any public consultation,
but specific groups (Ngāti Rangi, key employers; RAL, Forestry, Market Gardens, and Kainga Ora),
can you please confirm whether this is limited to those parties, or if further consultation with the
Public will be held.
Consultation would be undertaken in line with the governing legislation, either the Resource
Management Act or Local Government Act 2002, and the relevant section of the act.
4) I note point 5 page 4 (LAND USE & ZONING), I note the recommendation stating "Urban design
outcomes for higher densities should be embedded in planning provisions and should address
matters such as access, daylight, greenspace, acoustic privacy, visual privacy, storage and outdoor
living spaces. This ensures that a high quality of living is provided for within denser urban
environments". Who authored this statement and have councillors been briefed and discussed this
matter, if so, can you please provide any notes, emails or documents related to these
recommendations or suggestions.
The plan was endorsed by the Waimarino-Waiouru Community Board. This information is enclosed.
5) I note page 6 point 5 (SPORTS PARK PRECINCT) that none of these recommendations have
been considered and that the "Ohakune Social Housing Project" will be utilising this land instead.
Are amendments being made to these drafts, have they been discussed in any form or documented
or minuted since 20th June 2023.
There was no page 6 on the link you provided. Page 5, point 5 refers to a sport park precinct, and
as to respond to this point, I am assuming this is the page you meant. Point 5 on the map,
encompasses an area of sporting ground where local rugby and a local rugby sport club building is
currently located. This, and the carrot park site are the outlined “Sports Park Precinct” in the spatial
plan. The proposed development at Tei Tei Dr will not impede on this site. They are sperate lots. I
have attached a map from Councils intramaps system for your information as it is easier to see the
boundary lines.
5.1) Who authored this point 5 page 6 draft?
Boffa Miskell are the contractors used to create the draft Ohakune Spatial Plan. This information is
enclosed.
