Tēnā koe John Luke
I refer to your email of 27 November 2023 in which you request the following under the Official
Information Act 1982 (OIA):
May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have call for
public nominations for the Tokelau International Trust Fund Board of Trustees, e.g.
govt.jobs website.
Also, how many applications you have received from the public and how many you have
received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc with you
most recent call for nomination.
Also, can you please supply the term of appointment and member's pay rate.
In the lead up to appointing the substantive, and alternate, New Zealand Government
representatives to the Tokelau International Trust Fund in October 2022, we sought nominations
from the New Zealand Treasury, the Ministry of Pacific Peoples, Te Puni Kōkiri, the Ministry for
Women, the Ministry for Ethnic Communities, and the Ministry of Disabled People. This process
aligns with the requirements and processes, which are publicly available on the Department of
the Prime Minister and Cabinet’s (DPMC) website:
https://www.dpmc.govt.nz/publications/appointments-process. We received seven nominations from the Ministry for Women, six from the Ministry of Disabled
People, and two from the Ministry of Pacific Peoples.
The term of appointment for New Zealand Government representatives to the Tokelau
International Trust Fund is three years, commencing 1 November 2022, potentially renewable for
up to two further three-year terms.
The New Zealand Government representatives to the Tokelau International Trust Fund were
assessed as being at the upper range of Level 2 Members of a board under the “Group 4: All
Other Committees and Other Bodies” category of the Cabinet Fees Framework, as set out in
Cabinet Office circular CO (22)(2) available on the DPMC website:
https://www.dpmc.govt.nz/publications/co-22-2-revised-fees-framework-members-appointed-
bodies-which-crown-has-interest#revised-fees-framework-for-members-appointed-to-bodies-in-
which-the-crown-has-an-interest
