Thank you for your email of 27 November 2023 to the Ministry of Education (the Ministry)
requesting the fol owing information:
1. May I ask how you cal ed for public nomination and on what platform you have cal for
public nominations for the New Zealand National Commission for UNESCO e.g. govt.jobs
website.
2. Also, how many applications you have received from the public and how many you have
received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc with you
most recent cal for nomination.
3. Also, can you please supply the term of appointment and member’s pay rate.
Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act).
The most recent cal for nominations took place between 19 and 30 September 2022. An email
was sent to Associate Members of the New Zealand National Commission for UNESCO and to
state sector nominating agencies. There was no general advertising.
One application was received from a candidate who was advised of the opportunity by the Ministry
for Women. Other candidates were identified by the Chair, from previous nomination rounds, and
through the Ministry’s own research. This generated an initial long list of 20 potential candidates.

With regard to your final question, the current member rate is $8,961 per annum, based on an
assumed 15 days of commitment per annum. The chair rate is $18,025 per annum, based on an
assumed 50 days of commitment per annum.
