Official Information Act request: Alcohol Regulatory and Licensing Authority
Thank you for your email of 27 November 2023 requesting, under the Official Information Act
1982 (the Act), information relating to the seeking of nominations for members of the Alcohol
Regulatory and Licensing Authority. Specifically, you requested:
“May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have call for
public nominations for the Alcohol Regulatory and Licensing Authority, e.g. govt.jobs
website. Also, how many applications you have received from the public and how
many you have received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of
women etc with you most recent call for nomination. Also, can you please supply the
term of appointment and member's pay rate.”
Calls for expressions of interest in the positions were advertised in
Capital Letter and
Law
Points. The positions were also posted on the Ministry of Justice website. Nominations for
expressions of interest were requested from the Ministry for Women, the Ministry for Pacific
Peoples, Te Puni Kōkiri and the Minister of Justice.
In total 14 expressions of interest were received for advertised positions. Five of the
expressions of interest were nominations via the Minister of Justice’s office. No nominations
were received by the other agencies contacted.
The term of appointment for the positions advertised can be up to five years. The two
members appointed as a result of this process were each appointed for a term of three years.
The remuneration for these positions was advertised at $538 per day.
