[FYI request #24893 email]
Dear John
Thank you for your email of 27 November 2023 requesting the following information under the Official
Information Act 1982 (Act):
I noted from this Ministry of Women's response, - MW DOIA- 23-24-0010, You have recently
sought nomination for the Tamaki Redevelopment Company
May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have call for public
nominations for the Tamaki Redevelopment Company, e.g. govt.jobs website. Also, how
many applications you have received from the public and how many you have received from
other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc with you most recent call
for nomination. Also, can you please supply the term of appointment and member's pay rate.
On 29 November 2023, your request was transferred from Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities
to Ministry of Housing and Urban Development – Te Tūāpapa Kura Kāinga (Ministry).
The platforms used for public nominations are generally
www.hud.govt.nz, www.seek.co.nz and/or
www.jobs.govt.nz. The Tāmaki Redevelopment Company Ltd board (TRC) positions appointed from
1 October 2023 were advertised on the Ministry website. The Ministry website and Seek were used
for the positions appointed in May 2023.
The most recent call for nominations for the TRC board was in June-July 2023, for the appointments
commencing on 1 October 2023. In this appointment round, 51 candidate nominations were
presented to the Minister of Housing. These were both new nominations and nominations from
previous rounds. Of the nominations from other agencies:
• ten were from Auckland Council
• four from the Ministry for Women
• seven from the Ministry for Disabled People
• one from the Ministry for Pacific Peoples
• one from the Minister for Diversity, Inclusion and Ethnic Communities
The length of appointment terms differs in order to stagger term-end dates. Of the three directors
appointed from 1 May 2023, two were for a three-year term, and one for a two-year term. The two
directors appointed from 1 October 2023 were both for one-year terms, reflecting restraint in the pre-
election period.
The TRC board is authorised to pay $36,500 per annum per director. The Chair’s fee is twice the
base director fee and the Deputy Chair’s fee is 1.25 times the base director fee.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review of my response by the Ombudsman, in
accordance with section 28(3) of the Act. The relevant details can be found on the Ombudsman’s
website at:
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz.
As part of our ongoing commitment to openness and transparency, the Ministry proactively releases
information and documents that may be of interest to the public. As such, this response, with your
personal details removed, may be published on our website.
