I refer to your information request dated 28 November 2023 made under the Official Information Act 
1982 (the Act). You have requested information in relation to entry to the 2024 Bachelor of Dental 
Surgery (BDS) programme at the University of Otago via the Graduate General category. 
 
Please see below our response to your request. 
 
1.  The number of Graduate General category students who applied to the BDS programme 
which will commence in 2024. 
 
There were 81 applicants to the 2024 BDS programme via the Graduate General category. Please note 
that this figure excludes applicants who cancelled their application, and applicants who may have 
applied but were ineligible to apply via the Graduate General category. 
 
2.  The number of those Graduate General category applicants who met the UCAT thresholds 
and be invited to interview for the BDS programme for entry into 2024. 
 
69 applicants were interviewed for entry to the 2024 BDS programme via the Graduate General 
category.
