Thank you for your email of 2 December 2023 requesting the following information under the Official 
Information Act 1982 (the Act): 
 
I would like to request all research or evidence you have about the safety / risk of people standing 
on buses when they moving, including in 100 km/h speed zones. 
 
I am refusing your request under section 18(g)(i) of the Act because the information requested is not 
held by NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) and believed that this information is not held by 
another organisation. 
 
However, there is a report on Safety of School Bus Journeys which is the closest research to the 
requested information. This report is publicly available and can be found here: 
https://www.nzta.govt.nz/resources/research/reports/408 
 
Under section 28 of the Act, you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review my decision to refuse
