Thank you for your request which was transferred from the Ministry of Health on 12 December 
2023 asking for the following: 
 
please would you let me have details of the National birth rates from 01.01.2017 
- to the 31.05.2022 inclusive, broken down by month and year. 
 
On 14 December 2023, we contacted you and advised the relevant business unit had offered to 
respond to this directly. This would be treated as a data request rather than the standard approach 
to requests under the Official Information Act 1982 so that the team could work with you on the data 
you are seeking. 
 
Unfortunately as we have not received a response, we are only able to provide the following 
information.

The web tool provides annual health statistics about women giving birth, their pregnancy and 
childbirth experience and the characteristics of live-born babies in NZ between 2012 to 2021 (2022 
is not published yet).
