Dear Ms Anderson
Thank you for your email of 10 December 2023 in which you request the fol owing under the
Official Information Act 1982 (OIA):
… the number of emails, physical mail and phone cal s (both that have been noted in any
registry and to the best of your staff's recol ections), that you or your office have received
since you were sworn into your role as Minister of Foreign Affairs:
- inquiring what action you wil take to end the genocide/violence in Gaza.
- asking that you publicly condemn the genocide/violence in Gaza.
- seeking a ceasefire in Gaza.
- asking for Israeli diplomatic officials to be expel ed from Aotearoa/New Zealand
and/or for diplomatic relations with Israel to be cut.
- any other correspondence that is in favour of ending the genocide, ethnic
cleansing or apartheid state in Palestine (i.e. Gaza and the West Bank).
Since receiving my Ministerial Warrant on 27 November 2023 to the date of your request, my
office has received 130 pieces of correspondence in scope of your request. This includes both
emails and physical mail.
Please note that my office does not keep a registry of incoming cal s, but I can advise that I have
received a number of cal s on this subject within the timeframes of your request. Consequently,
your request, in so far as it relates to this information, is refused under section 18(e) as the
information requested does not exist.
