I refer to your information request dated 15 December 2023 made under the Official Information Act
1982 (the Act). You have requested the GPA of all students who study a double degree in a Bachelor of
Laws (LLB) and Bachelor of Arts (BA) majoring in Politics.
Subject to the following comments, please see attached the information you have requested.
• The attached data contains two tables – one for cumulative GPA, and one for 2023 GPA.
• Only students concurrently enrolled in both programmes in 2023, who were also enrolled in
one or more 300- or 400-level LAWS papers, are included in the data.
• Students who are enrolled in the LLB(Hons) programme as part of their double degree are
included in the data.
• Further information on how the University calculates GPA is available on the University’s
website.
• Cumulative GPA:
o The cumulative GPA data is correct as at 29 January 2024 and is calculated using all
confirmed paper results as of this date (i.e., not just those taken for the LLB or for the
BA Politics major). Therefore, the cumulative GPA calculations will include student
results from non-LAWS and non-POLS papers at all year levels.
• 2023 GPA:
o The 2023 GPA data is also correct as at 29 January 2024 and is calculated using all
confirmed paper results from the 2023 academic year only. As noted above, and
depending on a students’ course of study in 2023, the GPA calculations may include
student results from non-LAWS and non-POLS papers.
I trust that this information will be helpful.
