Zealand initial meeting with new Minister and copy of Briefing to Incoming
Minister (BIM)
I refer to your official information act request (OIA), received by Education New
Zealand (ENZ) on 9 January 2024;
Dear Education NZ,
• I would like to request the following information:
o The date, time and location of your initial meeting with the
new Minister for your department;
o A list of attendees at this meeting
o The cost of any flights and accommodation for staff who
reside outside of wel ington to attend this meeting
o Any documentation provided at the meeting
o Al notes (including handwritten notes) taken at the
meeting by department staff;
o A copy of any emails sent by department attendees or all
staff communications regarding the meeting with the new
Minister.
o your initial briefing document sent to the new Minister.
As of 9 January 2024, ENZ has not yet had a meeting with the Minister with
responsibility for Education New Zealand.
As such we are refusing the first part of your request (relating to the ‘initial
meeting with the new Minister for your department’) under section 18(e) of the
OIA as the document al eged to contain the information requested does not
exist or, despite reasonable efforts to locate it, cannot be found.
A copy of our Briefing to the Incoming Minister was sent to both Hon Minister
Simmonds, Minister for Tertiary Education and Skil s and Hon Minister
Stanford, Minister of Education.
This document is due to be publicly released soon. As such, this part of your
request is declined under section 18(d) of the OIA, that the information
requested is or wil soon be publicly available.
