Tēnā koe John Luke
I refer to your information request dated 23 January 2024 made under the Official Information Act
1982 (the Act). You have requested the following information in relation to the recently advertised
Council member vacancy on the University of Otago Council:
“May I ask have you called for public nomination on any other platform e.g. govt.jobs website.
Also, how many applications you have received from the public and how many you have
received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc. Also, what
would be the process look like and when the nomination period ends. Further, may I kindly
request a copy of your advertisement.”
Please see below our response to your request.
The recent notice regarding the nomination process to fill one vacancy on the University of Otago
Council is being run via the Institute of Directors. The University advertised the vacancy via the
University website, University LinkedIn profile, and through direct internal communications with staff.
There was also an advertisement through the Institute of Directors website.
The closing data for applications was Sunday 11 February 2024.
Once applications are collated and delivered by the Institute of Directors, the Council Nominations
Committee will meet to review the nominations. Applications received will be assessed against the
published skills criteria. Following the initial review, it is expected that some applicants will be
interviewed. Once the Nominations Committee process is complete, a recommendation will be made
to the University of Otago Council for consideration.
I trust that this information will be helpful.
Ngā mihi
