We are refusing your request for Havelock North water contamination cases
We are unable to identify claims related to the Havelock North water contamination incident as the
information is not readily available from our data sets. To find the information you have requested, we
would need to undertake a manual search of a significant number of claim files. As such, we are refusing
this part of your request as finding the information would require substantial col ation and research. This
decision is made under section 18(f) of the Act.
In making this decision, we considered extending the time limit for responding or applying a charge (as
allowed under the Act). However, neither of these were offered as responding using either option would
still have unreasonably interfered with ACC’s operations.
The legislative considerations for water contamination in these cased apply to section 25(1)(ba) of the
Accident Compensation Act 2001.
ACC does not cover il ness
As such, we are unable to provide you with information related to non-injury related illnesses for questions
four to seven. We are therefore refusing your request as the information does not exist. This decision is
made under section 18(e) of the Act.
