Official Information Act Request OIA 24.12 Council Member nomination
I refer to the Official Information Act (the Act) request dated 18 February 2024 for information relating to the
Council Member nomination for the University of Canterbury (UC). You have specifical y requested:
•
I noted you have call for council member via TEC and possibly other platform.
•
May I ask have you called for public nomination on any other platform e.g. govt.jobs website.
•
Also, how many applications you have received from the public and how many you have received
from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc.
•
Also, what would be the process look like and when the nomination period ends. Further, may I kindly
request a copy of your advertisement.
UC cal ed for expressions of interest to Council to fil two vacancies via the UC website and The Christchurch
Press. There were 5 responses received from the public. Once the expressions of interest were received, they
were considered by the Honours and Appointment Committee before being put to Council for consideration
and approval. These appointments were Council appointees in accordance with the University’s constitution.
Please find attached a copy of the advertisement that was used for the UC website and a copy of the
advertisement as it appeared in The Christchurch Press on 2 August 2023.
