Response to your official information request
Thank you for your official information request received on 21 February 2024 for
information regarding:
1. Individual roles, working groups, researchers, research teams and other groupings
of this nature, if any, that are going to be disestablished from your relevant
Ministry or departmental agency owing to the government’s policy of reducing
the public service.
2. Reasons these roles, working groups, researchers, research teams and other
groupings are considered to be disestablished.
3. Brief description of the duties, roles, scope and cancelled projects of the above
mentioned where relevant to the individual or group in question.
In response to your request there are no current plans to disestablish any roles, working
groups, researchers, research teams and other groupings at Toitū Te Whenua Land
Information New Zealand (LINZ).
LINZ did disestablish 40 vacant roles in the period 1 August 2023 – 29 February 2024.
The 40 roles disestablished in the period were al vacant. Work was done to ensure roles
that were disestablished would have the least material impact on the day to day running
of the organisation.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this
decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at
