Official information request regarding The Post article of 6 March 2024
Our Ref: OIA353/1
1.
I refer to your official information request dated 7 March 2024:
On The Post front page yesterday (6 March) it mentioned a graduate law
programme was being cut. Can you provide the information you hold (emails,
messages, briefings) about how you have interpreted “back office” functions in
your agency and information (emails, messages, briefings) about why this
programme is being cut.
2.
I understand that your request refers to the article at the link below:

3.
Regarding the first part of your request, we have found information that is in
scope of your request. Please refer to the enclosed attachment. Information in
this attachment that is not in scope has been redacted, as well as some names
under section 9(2)(a) of the Official Information Act 1982.
4.
We have decided to refuse the second part of your request for information
which relates to the two-year graduate programme from 2026. I believe you are
referring to the Government Legal Network Graduate Programme which is
managed by Crown Law. I can advise that no decision has been made to cut this
programme. Therefore, your request is refused in line with section 18(e) of the
Official Information Act 1982 as this information does not exist.
5.
In order to provide you with further context about the information you have
requested, please note that Crown Law is currently considering an organisational
design proposal that may impact on roles whose responsibilities currently
include the management of the Graduate Programme. If this goes ahead,
alternative opportunities have been identified within Crown Law to carry out
these responsibilities and support the cohort of Graduates.
