We refer to your official information request dated 16 March 2024 for:
The per-project cost over the last 4 years of al external contractor,
consulting or engagement costs relating to the following cycle/roading
projects:
* Each of the projects of the 'Magic Triagnle" in Avalon and Taita
* The Waterloo/Knights Rd cycle paths and plan development
* The CBD connections between Hutt River trails and the Waterloo path
* The Petone Walking and Cycling Connectivity Study
* The Esplanade Optimisation Study
Response:
Please find attached a table containing the Information you have requested.
This work was undertaken to design shared paths and cycleways in Lower
Hutt. These were being prepared for construction until central government
paused the funding. The designs wil be kept until funding becomes available,
so the money spent has not been in vain.

•  Within the accounts we do not have a breakdown of costs related to
external contractors, consulting, or engagements. Therefore, the
breakdown we have provided is our best estimate of these costs based
on a review of transactions relating to these projects.
•  We are also not able to accurately separate the specific costs relating
to the Magic Triangle in regard to the individual areas, i.e. Avalon Taita,
Naenae.
•  Consulting and engagement have been carried out mainly through
external consultants, although there may also have been some internal
resourcing, which we are unable to separately identify.
