[FYI request #26175 email]
Dear Ohakune Ratepayers and Residents Society Inc
I refer to your official information request dated 20 March 2024 Teitei – what changed in budget
blowout / affordability. On 18 April 2024 we extended the time frame for a decision on your request
to 29 May 2024. This extension was made under section under section 14(1)(a) and (b) of the
LGOIMA Act 1987,
This letter is to advise that council is withholding information under section 7(2)(i) to enable any
local authority holding the information to carry on, without prejudice or disadvantage, negotiations
(including commercial and industrial negotiations).
We did consider a partial release of the information requested however believe this could prejudice
current negotiations, detrimentally affecting the relationship between parties. Of note is the
sensitive nature of the background to the negotiations is considered a factor when considering
prejudice.
We have considered the public interest as required by section 7(1) of the Act and do not consider
the withholding of the information from this response is outweighed by the public interest in making
that information available.
This decision to withhold information is subject to review on completion of negotiations.
Council sincerely apologises for the time it is taking to provide a response and thanks you for your
patience.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
Information about how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or
freephone 0800 802 602.
Yours sincerely
Maggie Flonk
