Dear David
Official Information Act request for communications regarding Koru Club
memberships
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) request received on 7 April 2024.
You requested:
“Could you please provide any communications sent across government
departments/ministries regarding expectations/spending on Koru club memberships?
I’m only interested if anything has been sent out widely across government, not
communications only sent to individual departments/ministries.”
I have interpreted your request to be for any information sent by the Department of Prime
Minister and Cabinet (DPMC) to other government agencies regarding Koru club
memberships.
I can advise that DPMC does not have responsibility for providing advice on such
expenditure to other agencies. As such I am refusing your request in full under section 18(g)
of the Act as the information is not held by DPMC. Ordinarily I would seek to transfer your
request to another agency, however, following conversations with Te Kawa Mataaho, the
Public Service Commission, we have in this instance been unable to identify a suitable
agency to transfer your request to.
Please note that government agencies are regularly asked to report to Select Committee on
Koru Club memberships as part of the Annual Review process each year. Annual Reviews
are published on the Parliament website at
www.parliament.nz/en/. You have the right to ask the Ombudsman to investigate and review my decision under
section 28(3) of the Act.
We do not intend to publish this response on the Department of the Prime Minister and
Cabinet’s website.
Yours sincerely
