Thank you for your email of 14 April 2024 requesting the fol owing information under the Official 
Information Act 1982 (the Act): 
 
With the recent announcement of the speed limit increase on the Kapiti Expressway, what work is 
required for the Raumati Straight to be upto safety standards and what remaining works on 
Transmission Gully needs to be completed before the speed review could commence 
 
Raumati Straights 
The work required for the Raumati Straights section includes retrofit roadside protection and access 
closure, widening of the shoulder and improvements to ground and pavement condition. Planning 
work is underway to scope and design the necessary improvements prior to funding approval.  
 
Transmission Gul y 
The project works required to be completed before the speed review can commence are:  
•  Pavement and road surfacing remedial works 
•  Works at and adjacent to the State Highway 58 (Pāuatahanui) interchange, also comprising 
pavement and road surfacing works 
•  Completion of required quality assurance tests, works completion tests, consenting tasks and 
property agreement obligations with local landowners.  
 
In line with NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) policy, this response wil  soon be published on
