associated conditions
Thank you for your request dated 17 April 2024 under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA)
for information relating to immunosuppressed/diabetic/cancer populations. You requested:
Please share with New Zealand public, the most up to date advice, reports, and
information advising:
a. For people prescribed immunosuppressants, the most predominant associated
health conditions (in data/percentages).
b. For people prescribed chemotherapeutic agents, data on types and prevalence
of associated comorbid health conditions (in data/percentages) and data on costs of
medicines commonly coprescribed.
c. For people prescribed diabetes medication, data on types and prevalence of
associated comorbid health conditions (in data/percentages) and data on costs of
medicines commonly coprescribed.
d. General information held by Pharmac on the costs of multimorbidity and/or
metabolic syndrome.
Pharmac are unable to meet your request due to the significant amount of col ation and
model ing required to provide the requested information. As such, your request is refused in
ful in accordance with section 18(f) of the OIA, as the information cannot be made available
without substantial col ation or research.
I can however provide you with a copy the Prescription for Pharmacoeconomic Analysis
(PFPA) which indicates the methods we use to assess the cost to the health system for the
various health conditions assessed by Pharmac:
