Ref: PMO OIA 237-2023-24
Dear Jacob
Official Information Act request: All correspondence sent by the Prime Minister on
1 March 2024
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) request, received on 26 April 2024.
You requested:
“Can I please requests all emails and texts you sent on 1 March 2024 in your
capacity as Prime Minister.”
The Prime Minister did not send any emails in his capacity as Prime Minister on 1 March
2024, therefore this part of your request is refused under section 18(e) of the Act, as the
information does not exist.
Additionally, the text messages sent on 1 March 2024 are refused under section 18(f) of the
Act, substantial collation, as this would require a manual check of all text messages on the
Prime Minister’s mobile phone to identify anything in scope. In reaching this decision, I first
considered the factors contained in sections 18A(1) and 18B of the Act. However, I did not
consider that taking any of these steps of charging you for the information, extending the
time limits or consulting further with you, would allow the request to be answered.
You have the right to ask the Ombudsman to investigate and review my decision under
section 28(3) of the Act.
Yours sincerely
Cameron Burrows
Chief of Staff
