Dear N.S,
Official Information Act Request
We refer to your official information request dated 19 June 2024 and subsequent email in
relation to the request dated 1 July 2024 for the following information:
Dear Naoka Iwase,
Yes please the video is fine, I am particularly interested in that time to see if there was
anything other than LATAM LA801 passing over Wairoa being picked up at that time,
whether it be known or unknown.
I got up for a toilet trip while I was camping and something "extremely bright" was in
the air after LAN801 had passed over. There was nothing else on ADSB at that time.
Yours sincerely,
N. S. Hudson

Hi N.S.,
Could you please confirm if you are after the flight data between the hours of 3:45 AM
and 4:15 AM NZT, as there are usually no flights at this time?
Also, if we are able to send a movie showing the flight data, is that fine with you? It will
be much easier to see and understand the information compared to an Excel sheet.
Thank you.

• Squawk code
Furthermore, you would also like us to add headings on each data field and timestamp.

I have rechecked with our subject matter expert after receiving your latest email dated 1 July
2024 which you outlined your reason for the request in detail. I have been advised that the
only flight showing on the radar during the specified time was LATAM LA801 at 40,000ft just
about to start descending into Auckland and no other tracks can be found.
