Tēnā koe Sarah
Thank you for your email of 9 May 2024 to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE)
requesting, under the Official Information Act (the Act), the following information:
Please can you provide the date for when NZTE was informed of its savings target? It is my
understanding that MBIE allocates NZTE with its annual funding.
Note, this is not in relation to NZTE's 2023 COVID funding reduction, but specifically this relates to
the savings targets that most agencies and departments were issued from December 2023
onwards. i.e. 6.5% or 7.5% etc.
When did MBIE provide the target to NZTE and what was the percentage (as above)?
On 11 January 2024, the Chief Executive of MBIE advised Crown Entities (including New Zealand Trade
and Enterprise) that it will identify an expenditure reduction for Budget 2024 of 7.5% for the Crown
funding that MBIE is responsible for, including all departmental and non-departmental Crown funding
(this includes direct Crown funding to Crown entities) and excluding benefits and related expenses.
If you wish to discuss any aspect of your request or this response, or if you require any further assistance,
please contac
t [email address]. You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision. Information
about how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802
602.
