I am responding to your request of 13 May 2024 to the Department of Internal Affairs (the 
Department) under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), for information about the call 
for nominations for the Charities Registration Board (the Board). 
I respond to each of your questions below. 
How and what platform(s) did the Department use to call for public nominations?  
The Department called for public nominations via the following platforms:  
•  New Zealand Government Jobs Online; 
•  Seek; 
•  Trademe; 
•  Māori and Pacific jobs – via advertising on the Kumara Vine Website; and 
•  New Zealand Law Society – in the LawPoints newsletter. 
How many applications were received from the public?  
40 applications were received from the public. 
How many applications were received from other nominating agencies? 
Nine applications were received from nominating agencies. 
How many vacancies are there in total for the Board? 
Two vacancies for the Board have been advertised. 
When do you anticipate this process to finish? 
The Department anticipates that the entire appointment process to be completed by August 
2024. However, due to the many variables involved, there may be delays that can affect the 
timeline of the appointment process. 
The deadline for nominations submissions was 10 May 2024 and the Department is currently 
assessing the interests gathered.
