Thank you for your request of 16 May 2024, to Fire and Emergency New Zealand requesting
information relating to the new type 3 MAN appliances.
Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) and our response
is below.
1. Has Fire and Emergency got a rollout plan for the new type 3 MAN appliances currently
being built overseas? Does this plan include what appliances FENZ intends to dispose of
during the new appliance rollout? Can this plan be released?
We have not yet developed a roll out plan for the new MAN Type 3 appliances, which are currently
being built. As a result, we have not yet determined which appliances will be disposed of once the
new appliances are rolled out. Therefore, we are refusing this portion of your request pursuant to
section 18(e) of the OIA, as the document alleged to contain the information requested does not
exist.
2. Also, are Fire and Emergency still supplying and supporting type 3 appliances to volunteer-
only stations in areas with a perceived need, or will they be replaced with type 1 and/or 2s?
We can advise that Type 3 appliances are allocated to both volunteer and career stations where
Fire and Emergency determines that a Type 3 appliance is required. We have no plans to change
this.
