Thank you for your request of 17 May 2024, to Fire and Emergency New Zealand requesting
information relating to our fleet under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA). We respond to each
part of your request below.
1. an updated cascade list for Type 1, 2, Rural Pumps, Tankers and any other vehicles such as
USAR, including any additional procurement information.
2. a cascade list for new Type 3 MAN and Scania appliances, including those trialled.
We have interpreted the first two parts of your request for “
cascade lists” to be asking for all of the
most up to date appliance cascade plans available for the listed vehicle types. Please find attached,
as
Appendix One to this response, the most up to date version of the cascade plan.
Please note that the cascade plan does not include Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) vehicles.
However, we can advise that we have two new USAR trucks. The first wil be going to Auckland,
replacing the current truck, ALR881. We have not yet determined what we will do with ALR881
once replaced. The second will be going to Palmerston North and will be replacing the current
truck, AWW963. Once replaced, we intend to dispose of AWW963.
The only other cascade information we hold is for an Angloco MAN Type 3 trial appliance. Please
find this information attached, as
Appendix Two to this response.
3. an updated Station Tier List for Tier 1, 2 and 3 brigades as this has not been updated for
several years.
We do not currently hold an updated appliance tier list. We are working on updating and revising
the list, but it stil needs to be completed, finalised, and approved. Therefore, we are refusing your
request pursuant to section 18(e) of the OIA, as the document al eged to contain the information
requested does not exist.
4. an updated list for the busiest stations both volunteer and career, for the last 12 months or
5 year average
We sought clarification on 28 May 2024 and 4 June 2024 about this aspect of your request, but we
did not receive a reply. Unfortunately, without this clarification, we are unable to identify the
information you are interested in receiving and are therefore unable to answer this aspect of your
request.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
Information about how to make a complaint is available
