Thank you for your email on 31 May 2024 asking Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora (Health NZ) 
for the following under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):  
Month by month costs if any, over the last 7 months for storage of RAT kits and PPE. 
Date of tender for the disposal of the above, if it has gone to tender. 
 Response 
The National Reserve Stock (NRS) stores multiple product categories, including Rapid Antigen 
Tests (RATs) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The table below outlines the month-by-
month storage costs of all products for the last seven months.

Health NZ is billed per pallet cost for storage. The cost is determined by grade and storage 
requirements such as pharmaceutical, ambient, racked, blocked, or stacked storage. All storage 
costs include a fixed monthly insurance charge.  
  
The tender for disposal of PPE and RATs, Recycling Reforming and Disposal of unused Personal 
Protection Equipment and Rapid Antigen Tests, was advertised on the Government Electronic 
Tender Service (GETS) as per Government Procurement Rules. The tender opened on 
Wednesday 18 October 2023 and closed on Wednesday 15 November 2023.
